How to read the swimming figure
The live map currently classifies 0 mapped swimming features from OpenStreetMap tags. That broad discovery count can include hotel, club, customer-only and access-unknown sites; it must not be read as the number of pools a member of the public can use.

Five MSC pool sites, plus Côte d’Or
The Mauritius Sports Council lists five swimming-pool facilities. Côte d’Or separately publishes pool single-visit and membership terms. Check the operator directly before travelling. MSC [1] Côte d’Or [2]
This snapshot classifies 0 OpenStreetMap-tagged swimming features, the largest current activity lane. This is a map-feature count, not an estimate of public pool access.
0 mapped features are currently classified as football grounds. This describes records in this dataset only; it does not measure participation or facility capacity.
0 records in the current snapshot carry an explicit floodlight tag. Untagged records may still be lit, so this is a data-completeness measure rather than an island-wide capacity figure.
OpenStreetMap records may omit current contact, website, access and operating information. A verified listing adds those operator-supplied details; it does not change the underlying map count.
Source. Facility records were extracted from OpenStreetMap via the Overpass API, covering the full territory of Mauritius.
Scope. Sports pitches, sports centres, fitness centres, athletics tracks, mapped swimming features that meet the OpenStreetMap query, any feature carrying a recognised sport tag, plus mapped hiking, cycling and MTB routes — normalised into activity lanes.
Integrity. Figures are counts of mapped features only. No estimates, projections or opinions. OpenStreetMap tags do not certify public access, operational status, quality, lane capacity or current fees. Some real-world facilities are not yet in open data and are therefore not counted. The dataset refreshes weekly, so totals grow as community mapping improves.
